Formerly known as Tokyo International Airport, Haneda Airport previously handled a large number of both domestic and international flights, but since the opening of Narita International in 1978, it now handles mainly domestic flights, with the only international destination served being Gimpo Airport in Seoul, South Korea.

Despite this, Haneda handles approximately 65 million passengers a year and is easily the busiest air facility in Japan and the fourth busiest in the world.

Haneda Airport has three terminals: Terminal 1, also known as Big Bird; Terminal 2; and the International Terminal. Terminals 1 and 2 are linked by underground walkways and a free shuttle bus service runs between these terminals and the International Terminal.

Terminal Information

There are three terminals based here. The two largest are Terminal 1, also known as Big Bird, and Terminal 2, which between them handle all the domestic flights. There is also a smaller International Terminal which deals with flights to Gimpo Airport in Seoul, South Korea.
